The city centre of Lippstadt is only 4 km away. With more than 70,000 inhabitants, this largest city in the district of Soest with its numerous watercourses is also called the “Venice of Westphalia”. This old Hanseatic city has an enchanting city centre with many beautiful half-timbered houses. The spacious pedestrian street with lovely shops and diverse restaurants is ideal for leisurely shopping. Numerous cultural events (theatre, concerts, festivities and festivals) invite a visit throughout the year.
This twin city on the river Ems offers two beautiful old towns and has 46,000 inhabitants. Richly decorated half-timbered houses from the 16th and 18th centuries and a Westphalian moated castle lend the townscape its distinctive look. Behind the façades of the old half-timbered houses, life is pulsating. Modern shops, cosy cafes and restaurants and quaint pubs invite visitors to shop, relax and enjoy themselves. The “Flora Westfalica” (former grounds of the State Garden Show), an inner city recreational area with many attractions, extends across the centre of the city. Magical flowers and idyllic tranquillity, fun and plenty of water. The “Flora Westfalica” also boasts over 200 cultural events as part of the programme each year: theatre, concerts, cabaret, comedy, jazz, folk music and open-air spectacles.
